Hi! I’m Vidya, a visual artist & graphic–web designer based in India

Working at the intersection of still life painting and corporate graphic design. My practice is informed by formal studies in business, marketing, and graphic design, completed across India and Canada, alongside over a decade of professional experience in visual communication, interactive design, digital media, and print–packaging.

I’ve worked with brands and agencies in Mumbai and Toronto, taking on roles that span design leadership, client collaboration, e-commerce design, social media campaigns, brand identity systems, presentations, and production-ready print files. This background in structured, high-volume creative environments has shaped my approach to both design and fine art—balancing precision, clarity, and intention.

Alongside my design career, I continued studying traditional art fundamentals, with a strong focus on drawing and observation. My drawing practice uses charcoal, graphite, and black ink, allowing for expressive mark-making and tonal exploration. Gradually, I developed my first series of artworks called the 12th House series, a body of work rooted in introspection, solitude, and the unseen emotional landscape. These paintings explore themes of inner worlds, vulnerability, and quiet transformation through restrained palettes and layered textures.

My painting practice then evolved into atmospheric still life works, highlighting everyday objects—particularly pears—as vessels for mood, memory, texture, and emotional resonance. Light, colour, and surface play a central role in creating a sense of stillness and contemplation.

I am an Emerging Artist Member (2025–2026) at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, and my work has been pre-selected and exhibited internationally through both physical and digital platforms. My practice continues to evolve as I experiment across mediums, combining the structure and discipline of design with the sensitivity and intuition of fine-art techniques. Creating work that exists between these two worlds—intentional yet intuitive—remains central to my process.
