This still life explores pears within a natural, lived-in environment. The composition brings together freshly cut pears with leaves still attached, placed alongside a pair of scissors and an open book on a warm, reddish-brown wooden surface. From a top-view perspective, the scene extends beyond the table—revealing a cloth and a basket holding additional pears below, suggesting continuity beyond the immediate frame.

Light plays a central role in the work. The bright tones and highlights evoke a sunlit kitchen, grounding the scene in a specific moment during the day. The interplay between the ripe red-orange pears and the deep green leaves creates a visual harmony, while the muted tones of the book and surrounding elements offer balance and softness.

The scissors introduce a subtle narrative element. Their presence suggests a recent action—the pears having been freshly cut and placed—marking a quiet transition between nature and human intervention. While most elements blend into a cohesive rhythm of colour and form, the metallic sharpness of the scissors stands apart, gently anchoring the viewer’s attention.

Rather than isolating objects, the composition allows each element to exist in relation to the other, creating a sense of stillness that feels both observed and lived.
